Meet the Misuji

Writer's picture: Randall HarrisRandall Harris

"They speak to me—the Elements. They guide me to break the shackles of love, pain, joy, and hate. Be thy empty vessel. Shed your earthly presence. Become static. Become a drop in the ocean. Become one with all. Become the flock of UNITY."

~Sister Marenthal- Priestess of the church of UNITY~

The Misuji are from the city of Fera, which was once hidden amid three mountain ranges, protected from the outside world. However, after General Dextrum Turlus discovered it, the city became a hub for wealth and innovation. Unfortunately, the end of the Great War forced the Oratho to recoup their losses, and production in the city halted, leading to an economic spiral and desperate times for its inhabitants.

Fera was on the brink of collapse until a Graul named Father Quil arrived and began preaching the idea of becoming united with the world. His philosophy was to shed the individual, become a part of the flock, and transcend this earthly plain by being a vessel of the Elementals. His teachings spread like wildfire throughout the city, and he was named High Priest. He launched a campaign to spread his influence worldwide by preaching the gospel of UNITY by any means. The High Priest Father Quil separated his flock into two groups: The Feather and The Fang. The Feathers are the followers who preach the word, evangelize on the corner, spread influence, and grow the flock. The Fang are the followers who protect the word of the High Priest, Father Quil, by "converting" other churches to teach the gospel of UNITY. They also secure tithing, artifacts, and instruments of power for the church.

The idea of transcending to the Elements is to give everything to them. The mind, body, and spirit belong to them. The Misuji has passive traits that allow the Elements to influence them. They can boost their majik and mana, make themselves swift as the wind, or offer themselves entirely to an Element, significantly increasing their attributes for a short period.
